Brickyard 400 - July 31, 2011

A few moments captured and placed on display from this year's Brickyard 400.

Our residential parking area near the track, normally full as far as the eye can see empty at 12:15ish for a 1:00 start time.

Speedway Lions Club Camping Lot (normally filled with tents, pop-ups, RV's and the like) viewed from 25th street looking north -- empty.

25th street looking east toward public entrance to turn 4 seating -- empty

Intersection of 25th and Georgetown -- Empty. We must have gotten there really late, right?

I manually held the camera for this panorama, comprised of 24 individual shots, click on this until picture until it's 100% open. From right to left -- exit to Turn 4,  Turn 4, then short chute between 3 and 4, finally on left note entrance to turn 3 is closed to public seating. It's 12:40 ish for a 1:00 start.

First warm up pace lap from apex / exit of turn 4

Second warm up pace lap, shot with wide angle lens.

For you Lit'l E fans out there

After about the first 40 laps, Cindy and I went shopping for souvenirs.  Here is the west side of track from exit of turn four looking south (parallel to Georgetown road), empty as far as the eye can see.

We returned to our seats with about +/- 50 laps to go. Restart after a caution

Paul Menard out front, chased by Jeff Gordon (late in the race).

Paul Menard, the eventual race winner.

Leaving the track right after the checkered flag looking west down 25th street -- not really busy.
The track does not publish attendance numbers, I think this year they will not have too....
